The 12th Annual COSEBOC Gathering of Leaders, held May 29-31, 2018 in the city of Boston, Massachusetts, is being presented by the Coalition of Schools Educating Boys of Color in partnership with the City of Boston’s My Brother’s Keeper Program and the Boston Public Schools

The Coalition of Schools Educating Boys of Color invites the submission of workshop proposals that align with and advance the 2018 Gathering theme, Boys and Young Men of Color: Liberated, Empowered and Educated. The COSEBOC Gathering of Leaders has been nationally recognized as the sole organization focused on the affirmative development of boys and young men of color. Since its inception, COSEBOC has had the mission to connect, inspire, support and strengthen school, district and community leaders dedicated to the social, emotional, cultural and academic development of boys and young men of color.

We are issuing a Call for Proposals to presenters who will engage participants and introduce them to social, emotional and educational practices designed to liberate, empower and educate boys and young men of color. Specifically, we seek presentations that will significantly transform school, community and district environments, policies, practices and procedures that will serve the well-being of boys and young men of color.

Workshop design and delivery should give attention to research on and principles of adult professional development.  COSEBOC workshops are expected to avoid "sit and get" and approaches that do not honor and strengthen the intellectual capacity of participants. They should incorporate a variety of instructional strategies that will engage participants and deepen group and individual learning.

Gathering workshops are either 90 minutes or three hours in length. We encourage individuals, schools, districts and organizations to submit proposals that will inspire, inform, strengthen and activate participants to advance a positive success agenda for boys and young men of color.
