COSEBOC is pleased to extend a call for workshop proposals to individuals and organizations committed to the affirmative development of boys and young men of color. Our selection of a robust roster of interactive workshops is intended to ensure a deeply impacting learning experience for all conference participants.
The proposal should:
- Include your name, title, affiliation, phone (work and cell) mailing address and email, and be no more than 3 pages in length.
- Include a workshop title that reinforces the theme and the importance of affirming the development of boys and young men of color. The title should be compelling.
- Inform the academic, social, character and emotional development of boys and young men of color in schools from pre-K through 12 and higher ed, home and community settings.
- Demonstrate the promise of being a replicable and sustainable practice that strengthens any one of the following areas:
- Teaching and learning
- Curriculum
- Assessment
- Policy
- Discipline
- Mentoring
- Rites of passage
- Parent and community engagement
- Character development
- Service to community
- Principles and process of starting a new school
- And other areas critical to affirming the development of boys and young men of color.
- Serve as an effective and exemplary response to the specific need.
- Engage participants in a hands on, authentically based experience that incorporates an understanding of adult learning theory. It should be interactive and not lecture centered.
